Griffey Could Be Back With Seattle On Monday

Tacoma News Tribune

The Tacoma Rainiers are about to get one of baseball’s best players - Ken Griffey Jr. is apparently headed to Cheney Stadium.

It appears likely Griffey will play for the Rainiers starting Friday or Saturday, against Edmonton.

Out since May 26 with a broken left wrist, Griffey will play a few games, evaluate his condition and then rejoin Seattle, perhaps as early as next week in Minnesota, where the Mariners play Monday through Wednesday.

“Minneapolis isn’t out of the question,” Seattle manager Lou Piniella said. “The day Junior says he’s ready, he plays.”
