Markair Jetliners Restored To Service
All six of MarkAir’s jetliners have been cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration to resume service, nine days after the FAA grounded the discount airline because of safety concerns.
None of the planes required repairs, MarkAir spokesman Tom Medland said.
“The FAA has terminated any heightened awareness or inspection of MarkAir,” Medland said. “They stated that they are totally satisfied with our record-keeping and safety.”
The last two MarkAir planes got the green light to resume service late Thursday. The other four planes had been cleared earlier this week and had resumed flights to the 11 cities served by MarkAir.
The FAA grounded MarkAir, which is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, because it was missing paperwork showing its planes had been properly maintained.
MarkAir officials said they lost track of some paperwork while moving the airline from Anchorage to Denver earlier this year.
