Compiled From Wire Services

Mark Martin ran down former teammate Wally Dallenbach six laps from the finish for his third straight victory from the pole in the Budweiser at the Glen NASCAR Winston Cup road race in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

After leading most of the way, Martin had to dive in for fuel on a caution with 30 laps remaining in the 90-lap event.

Dallenbach, who started 12th, streaked past Jeff Gordon and stayed in front for 20 laps until Martin passed him on the inside of the first turn at Watkins Glen International.

Al Unser Jr. took the lead when Michael Andretti’s engine expired three laps from the end, and went on to win the Miller Genuine Draft 200 in Lexington, Ohio, for the second year in a row.

Unser averaged 107.110 mph in taking his second victory of the season.

Damon Hill started from the pole and led all the way to win the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, Hungary. Reigning champion and current Formula One points leader Schumacher’s hot pursuit ended with mechanical failure three laps from the finish.
