Voter Registration Deadline Near
Voters who plan to cast ballots in the Sept. 19 primary but aren’t registered are running out of time.
The first deadline to register is Saturday. Voters who sign up by then are able to cast ballots the traditional way, at their local polling place.
There are plenty of places to register. Most fire stations in the city of Spokane and the Valley have registrars, as do most schools and city and state offices. Some businesses that have registrars on their staffs display a sign in the window.
Would-be voters who miss Saturday’s deadline have one more chance, but their options are limited. They must register at the county Elections Office by Sept. 1, and must cast an absentee ballot for the primary when they register.
After the primary, they are free to vote at polling stations.
In Spokane County, the Elections Office is on the second floor of the County Court House.
