Now They Hate Her, They Really, Really Hate Her
Courtney Love continued her complex love affair with the rock fans who keep turning up at her concerts.
On Friday in Mountain View, Calif., the lead singer of the rock group Hole began the final night of Lollapalooza by leading the crowd in a birthday sing-along for her daughter. Love wanted, she said, “respect for Frances Bean Cobain, who’s 3 years old today.”
Then things got nasty. Love, apparently unimpressed with the crowd’s energy, demanded that they sing “Louder!” and laced her pleas with profanity.
After jumping into the crowd twice to back up her words with her fists, a sobbing Love was escorted offstage by a security guard.

People magazine this week is reporting something surprising: Shannon Faulkner is still attending The Citadel. Apparently Faulkner, who sought to be the first woman matriculated by the South Carolina military school, quit the university after People went to print. “Shannon will be fine,” People quotes Faulkner’s lawyer, Val Vojdik, as saying. “She’s very determined, and she’s got tremendous inner strength.”
