Army Cracks Down After Theft Of Goggles
An entire brigade at Fort Lewis has been confined to headquarters for the past two weeks as Army officials try to find out who’s responsible for the theft of 13 sets of night-vision goggles.
The 124 soldiers have their meals brought in and are allowed only a few hours each evening to visit with family. All leave for members of the 210th Field Artillery Brigade has been canceled, said Col. Joe Leigh.
Recovering the missing goggles is a matter of national security, he said.
Agents from the Fort Lewis Criminal Investigation Division have fingerprinted each soldier, and, with consent, searched their barracks or off-post homes.
Agents also have conducted polygraph tests, and the Army has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
