Ewu Hires Track Coach
After nine seasons as an assistant at Washington State University, Marcia Mecklenburg has agreed to become head women’s track and cross-country coach at Eastern Washington University.
Mecklenburg, 38, replaces Rosalind Wallace, who left EWU to take a position with a high school in Atlanta.
“I’m thrilled about my position at Eastern Washington,” Mecklenburg said. “I’m comfortable that the knowledge I gained at Washington State will help me accomplish my goals as head coach at Eastern.”
Mecklenburg spent five seasons at Montana State before joining the Cougars in 1986.
“With her background in the state of Washington and her experience in the Big Sky and Pacific-10 Conferences, we feel fortunate to have her take over our women’s track program,” said John Johnson, EWU athletic director.
The Eagles still have one assistant track position to fill.
