Locals In World Title Game

Compiled From Wire Services

The Columbia Basin Junior River Dogs will play for the Babe Ruth 16-year-old world title today.

The River Dogs - comprised of players from throughout Eastern Washington, including two from Cheney - will play the winner of a loser-out game between Cincinnati and Iron Area, N.J. The winner of that game must defeat Columbia Basin twice to win the title since the River Dogs have not lost in tournament play, going 3-0.

In Thursday’s 11-1 semifinal win over Cincinnati, Cheney’s Tucker Urdahl pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and seven walks while striking out nine.
