Children Discover Fire In Basement
Two children woke up everyone in an east Spokane home after noticing a fire in the basement about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Fire Marshal Garry Miller said.
No one was seriously injured in the fire at 132 S. Perry, although a 4-year-old was treated for smoke inhalation at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
The fire started on a couch in the basement, Miller said. A smoker might have started the fire, he added.
There were no smoke detectors in the house, Miller said.
