Panda Gives Birth To Sixth Cub
A giant panda living at a research center in southwestern China has given birth to her sixth cub in five years.
The official Xinhua News Agency reported Monday that Dongdong gave birth this month. Her fertility is rare for members of the endangered species, experts at the Wolong panda research center said.
Two of Dongdong’s five previous cubs have since died.
About 1,000 pandas remain in the wild, mostly living in the bamboo forests in the mountains of southwestern China.
