Clinton Unaware Of Alien Invasion

Compiled From Wire Services

President Clinton weighed in Thursday on a 1947 incident UFO buffs believe was proof of life in space. It wasn’t a space ship, he said, “as far as I know.”

Looking for a funny line in a Christmas service speech, Clinton said he received a letter from a 13-year-old Belfast boy. “Ryan, if you’re out there in the crowd tonight, here’s your answer,” Clinton said. “No. As far as I know, an alien space craft did not crash in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947.”

The Air Force says the wreckage was probably a balloon launched as part of Project Mogul, a highly classified effort to detect Soviet nuclear weapons using balloons that carried radar reflectors and acoustic sensors.

“If the U.S. Air Force did recover any alien bodies, they didn’t tell me about it either,” Clinton said with a laugh. “And I want to know.”
