Niva ‘Deanie’ Scott Spokane

Memorial service for Niva Dean “Deanie” Scott, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pines Mausoleum. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Scott, who was born in St. Maries, Idaho, died Thursday.

She was a longtime Spokane Valley resident and worked as a cook at various restaurants.

She was a member of Valley First Free Methodist Church.

Her husband, Wayne “Scotty” Scott, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Scott of Bellingham and Darrell Scott of Spokane; three sisters, Joan Issler of Spokane, Beverly Boone of Oroville, Calif., and Cherrie Clark of Port Angeles, Wash.; two brothers, Harold Vigue Jr. of Spokane, and Kenneth Vigue of Cheney; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley First Free Methodist Church.

John LeForgey Spokane

Private service for John W. LeForgey, 78, was Saturday at Fairmount Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. LeForgey, who was born in Condon, Ore., died Wednesday.

He worked for Gendron’s Engineering Supply for several years.

He served in the Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier Natoma Bay.

Mr. LeForgey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois; three daughters, Elaine Gaede and Mary Soberg, both of Spokane, and Andrea Engel of Seattle; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Florence Ford Spring Valley, Calif.

Visitation for Florence M. Ford, 77, is scheduled to continue from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church. Private burial will be held.

Mrs. Ford died Nov. 24 in Spring Valley, Calif., where she had lived since July.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Walter, died in 1988.

Survivors include by two daughters, LaVerne Neuman of Spring Valley, Calif., and Roxanne Lysene of Enumclaw, Wash.; one son, Gerald Ford of Concord, Calif.; one sister, Virginia Cash of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shadle Park Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Kathleen Ross Moscow, Idaho

Graveside service for Kathleen Ross, 88, will be at 11:30 p.m. Monday at Palouse (Wash.) Fraternal Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ross died Tuesday at Moscow Care Center, where she had lived for 10 years.

She was born in Boston.

She moved to Pullman with her parents in the late 1930s and graduated from beauty school.

She had worked at the Spot Shop dry cleaners in Pullman as a seamstress and presser. She also ironed clothing at her home for private clients.

There are no surviving family members.

Duane Abrahamson Wellpinit, Wash.

Wake for Duane Alfred Abrahamson, 44, is planned for 7 p.m. today at the Spokane Tribal Longhouse in Wellpinit. Service is set for 10 a.m. Monday at Spokane Tribal Longhouse. Burial will follow at Hubert Cemetery in Ford, Wash. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Abrahamson died Thursday in an industrial accident.

He was born in DeSmet, Idaho.

He graduated from high school in Wellpinit. He served in the Army from 1972 until 1975.

He had worked for Vaagen Bros. Lumber Co. as a millwright for the past eight years.

He was a member of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Abrahamson; one son, John Abrahamson, and one daughter, Glenna Abrahamson, both of Wellpinit; his mother, Lorraine Abrahamson of Spokane; three sisters, Loreena LaFontaine and Charlene Abrahamson, both of Ford, and Brenda Abrahamson both of Seattle.

Evelyn Jurgensen Spokane

Service for Evelyn C. Jurgensen, 82, was Saturday at Wilbur (Wash.) Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Wilbur Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jurgensen, who died Monday, was born in Spokane and graduated from high school in Colville, Wash.

She had worked as a waitress in Colville and married Rolf Jurgensen, a construction worker, in 1939 in Newport, Wash.

They moved to the family farm in Wilbur in 1941 and lived on the farm until they moved into Sullivan Park Care Center in Veradale in September.

Mrs. Jurgensen was a member of the Wilbur Lutheran Church and the Do It Day Ladies.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Nerisa McConnell of Houston and Pat Angstrom of Spokane; two sons, Gordon Jurgensen of Puyallup, Wash., and Grant Jurgensen of Veradale; two brothers, Bill Moser of Everett and Ross Moser of Arlington, Wash.; three sisters, Florence Williams of Marysville, Wash., Louise Nielson of Puyallup and Lois Orton of Oregon City, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lydiellen Hagan Spokane

Private burial for Lydiellen M. Hagan, 87, will be held. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hagan, who died last Sunday, was born in Lincoln, Neb.

She held a private pilot’s license and she and her husband purchased their first plane in 1953. In 1958 she served as co-chair of the light plane (Powder Puff Derby) race to be held the next year. Planes entered in the women’s transcontinental air race ended their competition in Spokane. She had also helped organize the International Ninety-Nines Convention in Spokane in 1959.

She served on the boards of the Ninety-Nines (International Organization of Woman Pilots) and the Amelia Earhart Scholarship Fund. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

She had lived in Spokane 52 years.

Mrs. Hagan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. C.E. Hagan; and one sister, Aldine Lindeman of Lincoln, Neb.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Medical Center Development Fund, the Personal Appreciation Endowment Fund or the Amelia Earhart Scholarship Fund.

Paula Pilik Post Falls

Service for Paula F. Pilik, 79, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mrs. Pilik, who was born in Montana, died Thursday.

She moved to Post Falls in 1966 and was an antique dealer.

Mrs. Pilik was preceded in death by her husband, Joe. Survivors include a son, Joe Pilik of Spokane; two daughters, Valera Kingsley of Post Falls and Faye Stephenson of Loon Lake, Wash.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jack Sackville-West Spokane

Memorial service for Arthur J. “Jack” Sackville-West Jr., was Friday at Central United Methodist Church.

Mr. Sackville-West, who died Dec. 2, was 76.

He was born in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, and from Washington State College with an architectural engineering degree.

He entered the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was discharged in 1946.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club and the American Institute of Architects and was a board member of Rockwood Retirement Community.

Mr. Sackville-West worked as an architect with George Rasque and later owned the company and changed the name to Jack Sackville-West, Architect.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Sackville-West; six sons, Dave, Bob, Bill and Jim Sackville-West, all of Spokane, and Jack “Skip” Sackville-West of Loon Lake, Wash., and Rich Sackville-West of Fircrest, Wash.; one daughter, Karyn Whitten of Stone Mountain, Ga.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Eva Lindahl Spokane

Private service for Eva W. Lindahl, 93 was held. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-Cheney was in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Lindahl, who died last Sunday, was born in Emporia, Kan.

She received her teaching certificate in Kansas and took her first teaching job in Roberts, Idaho.

She taught for one year before she married the superintendent of the school, Harry Lindahl, in 1924.

Her husband taught in Oregon, Idaho and elsewhere in Washington before they settled in Cheney in 1942.

During World War II, Mrs. Lindahl worked at Galena Army Air Depot, and after the war she worked for Eastern Washington State College in the accounting department before retiring in 1964.

Her husband died in 1984.

Mrs. Lindahl moved to Spokane in 1985. She was a member of Cheney United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Stocker of Spokane; one son, Robert Lindahl of Newport, Ore.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Helen Schrecengost Spokane

Memorial service for Helen Vernon (Keener) Schrecengost, 76, is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Riverview Terrace Apartments. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation.

She died Tuesday at home.

She was born in Tulsa, Okla.

In 1940 she married Albert Keener. He died in 1944 while serving in World War II. She married William Schrecengost in 1945. The marriage was dissolved in 1983.

She returned to school and received an education degree from Eastern Washington University. She taught in the Central Valley School District for 12 years.

After she retired, she moved to Riverview Terrace Retirement Apartments. She served as secretary of the apartment council this year.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Keener of Seattle; one daughter, Carol Schreck of Spokane; two sisters, Louise Williams and Phillis Neff; and two grandchildren.
