Sampler Art Exhibit At Cheney Cowles

The Spokane Sampler Art Exhibitions - featuring the best and brightest area artists - opens Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Cheney Cowles Museum, 2316 W. First.

A public reception honoring the participating artists will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the museum.

A total of 193 artists entered a whopping 436 pieces in the juried competition. All artwork was reviewed by Sandy Harthorn, curator of exhibitions at the Boise Art Museum.

Sampler Art mediums include pastels, oils, photographs, copper sculptures, ceramics …

The show runs through Jan. 21.

First-time showing

Cheney Cowles Museum, 2316 W. First, has opened a new exhibit, “Recent Acquisitions,” displaying work and materials the museum has gathered the past five years.

Some items include Native American artifacts acquired from the Museum of Native American Cultures. Many pieces have never been shown to the public.

The showcase runs through Feb. 11.
