Italian Comic Strip Artist Killed By Car

Compiled From Wire Services

Francesco Bonvicini, the “Bonvi” signature behind a popular Italian comic strip, died Sunday after being hit by a car.

Bonvicini, 54, became popular more than 20 years ago in Italy with “Sturmtruppen,” depicting the misadventures of German soldiers, a feature that appeared in many Italian papers.

Police said he had just stepped out of his car and was crossing a street in Bologna Saturday night when he was hit by a car.
