Toys Dressed Up Beary Nice

Teddy bear lovers have until Dec. 15 to see Washington Trust Bank’s best-dressed bears.

The annual holiday contest provides 800 bears for customers to dress a bear for a needy child.

This year’s winner was a hairdresser bear attired by Janice Salgado of East Wenatchee. Second place went to a cowboy bear by Susan Garred of Deer Park.

The bank also donates $200 toward the winner’s favorite charity and $100 to the second-prize winner’s charity. The dressed bears will be on display in branch lobbies until midmonth, when they’ll be distributed to children though local non-profit agencies and homeless shelters.
