In Auburn, Ala., Bo Jackson, who gained renown as a two-sport professional, put on a different uniform to cross another kind of finish line at Auburn University.
Jackson received a bachelor of science degree in family and child development, a degree he completed partly through correspondence work after he retired from baseball last spring.
“It’s the last piece of the puzzle, to where I feel like I’m a complete person,” Jackson said.
In Philadelphia, a water valve broke overnight Sunday and flooded the construction site of the $200 million CoreStates Center, the future home of the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers when it opens in September 1996.
Several feet of water ended up inside the 21,000-seat arena and a small lake was created outside before workers arrived on the job as the temperature hit 15 degrees.
