German Rate News Boosts Dollar
The dollar rose slightly against European currencies Wednesday after Britain lowered a short-term lending rate, heightening expectations that Germany would follow with a cut of its own Thursday.
The greenback also found some strength on bullish economic news out of Washington, which could prevent the Federal Reserve from lowering interest rates.
Trading was very light ahead of the holiday season, exaggerating the effects of individual trades.
