Free Throws Vault Wv To Win

FL boys/girls basketball

West Valley’s self-proclaimed rebuilding year looks instead like its past five years.

David Schillinger scored 24 points and made four free throws in the final 30 seconds Saturday as visiting WV (5-0) rallied from 12 points down to beat Sandpoint (3-5) in a non-league boys basketball game.

The Eagles graduated five seniors from the team that won last year’s Frontier League crown. WV has won outright or tied for the last five Frontier titles.

Saturday’s game was tied with 4 minutes left, but WV’s second-half free-throw shooting (12 of 17) hurt Sandpoint. Schillinger also had seven assists.
