Herbert-Led Lc Downs Lewiston
Lake City bounced back from an Inland Empire League loss two days earlier to knock off the Lewiston Bengals 58-51 in a girls basketball game Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.
Timberwolves sophomore Lindsay Herbert scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists as LC rebounded from a 53-46 loss to Sandpoint on Thursday.
LC improved to 3-1 and 8-4. Lewiston fell to 1-1 and 3-3.
Laura Tolzmann added 13 points. LC fell behind 15-10 in the first quarter, but came back to take a 25-23 lead at halftime.

Gabrielle McClintock and Angie Kallas made three 3-pointers apiece to lead the visiting Eagles (4-1) to a non-league win over the Hawks at Rathdrum.
Amber Jamison topped the Hawks (2-8) with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Post Falls finished fifth and Lakeland seventh at the 15-team Hillyard M-2 Mallett Invitational at Rogers High. PF scored 114, Lakeland 103. The host Pirates won the tourney with 191 points.
In one of the better finals, Brad Henry of Lakeland edged Post Falls’ Chris Booth 3-2 at 115 pounds.
St. Maries (94.5) was eighth and Coeur d’Alene (80) finished 10th.
John Conner (190) finished second at the East Valley Invitational, but the rest of Lake City’s team had a rough time. The Timberwolves scored 56 points and finished last at the nine-team tournament. Champion Gonzaga Prep scored 203.
Casey Holbrook (103), Lucas Blaine (112), Jake Stark (125) and Adam Lamb (189) had pins to lead Priest River (1-0) over visiting Newport 44-28 in a non-league dual.
Blaine needed just 14 seconds to pin Troy Tatge.
