Johnny Koberstine Edmonds, Wash.

Memorial service for Johnny L. Koberstine, 49, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Community Bible Chapel in Spokane.

Mr. Koberstine, who was born in Spokane died Thursday.

He graduated from Reardan High School and served in the Army after he graduated from Spokane Community College.

He worked as a welder for the City of Spokane for 15 years.

He and his wife, Donna, were married in Spokane and lived in the Seven Mile area. They recently moved to Edmonds.

Mr. Koberstine was a member of Springhill Grange and Community Bible Chapel. He was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society CanSurmount Program.

Survivors include his wife; one son, John Koberstine of Spokane; his mother, Hazel Koberstine; one sister, Barbara Jean Clouse; and two brothers, Delbert “Duke” and Phillip Koberstine, all of Spokane; and one grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Virgil Roberts Spokane

Service for Virgil Abraham Roberts, 90, was Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mr. Roberts, who died Dec. 9, was born in Eddyville, Iowa.

He had worked in sawmills, as a automobile mechanic and as a farmer. He retired in California as a custodian.

He moved to Spokane 19 years ago.

His wife, Naomi, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Fleming of West Covina, Calif., and Dorothy Parks of Orange City, Calif.; three sons, Dwight Robert of Oakhurst, Calif., Donald Roberts of Spokane and Marvin Roberts of Sandpoint; one brother, Harold Roberts of Oskaloosa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Ardath ‘Ardie’ Morse Spokane

A memorial gathering for Ardath May “Ardie” Jenkins Morse, 66, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society Of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morse, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

She graduated from Rogers High School.

She married William Morse Jr. in 1949, and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1435 Auxiliary, the Lewis and Clark Minstrels, the Spokane Astronomical League, the Junior Chamber International Senatorship 5633, the Washington Newspaper Publicist Association, the Montana Press Association, the Spokane Community Concert Association, the Brotherhood of Friends, the Marine Corps Memorial Association, Spokane Valley Eagles and the Post Falls American Legion.

Mrs. Morse and her husband also participated in the Spokane Magic Club, Pacific Coast Association of Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

She is survived by her husband; one son, William Morse of Edmonds, Wash.; two daughters, Glenda Bray of Spokane and Stephanie Sullivan of Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, David Jenkins of Wenatchee and Steve Shannon of Portland; and one sister, Juanita Newcomb of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435 Auxiliary.

Marilyn Peterson St. John, Wash.

Graveside service for Marilyn Leslie Peterson, 61, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at International Order of Odd Fellows Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia, Wash. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peterson, who died Wednesday, was born in St. John.

She graduated from Rosalia High School and Kinman Business University.

She married Robert Peterson in 1955 and they lived in Spokane. He died in 1964.

Mrs. Peterson worked as a checker for Sav-More Foods in Spokane and eventually became a manager for one of the stores. She retired early due to her poor health over the last few years.

She returned to St. John two months ago.

She was a member of the Spokane Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include one daughter, Machelle York of Spokane; two sisters, Patricia Pierce of St. John and Gracie Reed of Rosalia; one brother, Charles Reed of Rosalia; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Community Building.

Laverne Long Worley, Idaho

Service for Lester Laverne Long, 74, was Wednesday at Chiefs Chapel in Worley. Burial was at Worley Cemetery.

Mr. Long, who died Dec. 9, was born in Garfield, Wash.

He was a World War II Army veteran, and worked as a rural mail carrier.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Worley Fire Department, the Worley Cemetery District, and served on the Worley City Council.

His wife, Ruth, died in 1983.

He is survived by two daughters, Pat Sifford of Worley and Phyllis Dohrman of Priest Lake, Idaho; one son, Douglas Fox of Tacoma; two sisters, May Espy of Palouse, Wash., and Marie Crandall of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren.

Arthur Fisher Coeur d’Alene

At his request, no service will be held for Arthur R. Fisher, 78. Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fisher, who died Dec. 7, was born in Wallace. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in the mid-1930s.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After his military discharge, he returned to Coeur d’Alene and married Dorothy Knapp.

Mr. Fisher had worked for various logging companies in North Idaho and was proud to be a logger, retiring in 1990.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Fisher of Rathdrum, Idaho, Robert Knapp of Post Falls and Kenneth Knapp of Greenacres; two daughters, Dianna Hull of Coeur d’Alene and Margie Kitchen of Hayden Lake, Idaho; three brothers, Don and Dick Fisher, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Jim Fisher of Post Falls; four sisters, Gladys and Vivian Wargi, both of Coeur d’Alene, Violet Wagner of Bremerton and Fairy Delay of Careywood, Idaho.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
