Stanford Upsets No. 2 Tennessee

Kate Starbird scored 26 points and Naomi Mulitauaopele had a career-high 23 as host No. 9 Stanford (4-1) beat second-ranked Tennessee 90-72 in women’s basketball, handing the Vols their first loss of the season after eight victories.

Sixth-ranked Penn State (7-2) scored the final 15 points, including consecutive three-point plays by Katina Mack, to beat host No. 21 Kansas (3-4) 75-72.

At Indianapolis, Ruthie Bolton scored 19 points in pacing the U.S. National team to a 90-50 rout of No. 13 Purdue, the national team’s 15th consecutive victory in its exhibition tour. Purdue is the 11th ranked team to fall to the national team.

Sara Belanger scored 25 points as host Minnesota-Duluth stopped North Dakota State’s 49-game winning streak, 66-51.
