Suspect Admits In Interview Killing Women
A murder suspect charged with killing two Oregon women said sudden violent urges drove him to kill them and a Visalia man.
Robert James Acremant, 27, told The Record of Stockton that he probably would have killed again if police hadn’t arrested him on Wednesday.
But Acremant told the paper that Scott George, a drinking buddy from Visalia, was his first victim. He disappeared Oct. 3.
Visalia police still are treating George’s disappearance as a missing person case, spokesman Mike Correia said.
Acremant is accused of murdering Roxanne Ellis and Michelle Abdill in Medford, Ore. on Dec. 4. He waived his right to an extradition hearing on Friday and will be returned to Oregon.
Acremant said he hoped to be executed.
“I don’t feel any remorse for these people,” Acremant said during the interview at the San Joaquin County Jail. “I didn’t have the life I wanted. I didn’t have the girl I wanted.”
Acremant, who had a master’s degree in business administration, vowed to be wealthy by age 27. He said he felt humiliated when his software business floundered and he was forced to live with his mother. Then, his girlfriend, a Las Vegas strip dancer, lost interest in him.
Acremant said he began drinking heavily, killing 23-year-old George on a whim after the two left a Visalia bar Oct. 3.
“I just had the urge to see what it was like to shoot somebody,” Acremant said.
Acremant said he never planned to kill the two Oregon women. He said he wanted to rob a property management firm by viewing a townhouse and then forcing the owner to write him a check.
When the first company sent an employee rather than the owner, he tried again - reaching Ellis.
After meeting Ellis at a townhouse and eventually luring Abdill there, he plotted to move both women to another location.
It wasn’t until he forced the women to lie in the back of the pickup truck - and then picked up his gun - that he felt like shooting them in the back of the head.
Acremant denied killing Ellis and Abdill because they were lesbians.
“It wasn’t that they were lesbians, but that made it easier because I don’t like them,” he said.”This is the first time I’ve been sober in a long time,” Acremant said. “It’s kind of weird talking about it. I feel like I’m watching a neat movie.”
