Shadle’s Fast Start Tips U-Hi

Shadle Park jumped out to a 17-6 first-quarter lead then hung on for a 51-45 victory over University Tuesday night at Shadle Park.

The losing Titans (0-3, 1-4) rallied to pull within three points at the half by doubling up the Highlanders (3-0, 6-1) 16-8 in the second quarter.

University trailed by the same margin heading into the final period after battling to a 13-13 standstill in the third quarter. University’s Adrienne Wilson tallied a game-high 15 points.

Emily Christensen and Kelli Pilkington each tossed in 13 points to lead Shadle Park. Pilkington also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Joy Potter buried three 3-pointers for the Highlanders.

Shadle Park is still playing without JoEne Heimbigner, who is out with a whiplash injury suffered in a car accident before league games started. University’s Stephani Shelton is probably out for the season after suffering a knee injury in the season opener.

Central Valley 73, Rogers 40

Crystal Lee totaled a game-high 24 points as Central Valley (3-0, 6-0) cruised past host Rogers (0-3, 1-6).

The Bears jumped to a 25-8 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Pirates outrebounded Central Valley 35-26, but they also committed 30 turnovers.

Lemandy Tannehill’s 10 points topped Rogers. Carrie Sanders and Marcy MacPhee scored 11 points each for Central Valley.

Stacy Clinesmith knocked down a game-high 18 points to spark the Panthers (2-0, 5-1) to their victory over the visiting Tigers (1-2, 5-2).

Mead outgunned the Tigers 31-9 in the second half. Becki Huddle had 11 points before fouling out for Lewis and Clark.

The Bullpups ((2-1, 4-1) held the visiting Indians (0-2, 0-6) to five field goals in 24 attempts in the first half en route to a lopsided victory.

Jennifer Williams of Gonzaga Prep led all scorers with 19 points and also pulled down eight rebounds. Teammate Theresa Palmer added 11 points.

Aimee Wilson had 10 points to lead North Central.
