Man Held After Woman Beaten
A man who claims to be affiliated with a Los Angeles street gang was arrested Friday morning on charges of knocking a woman down and stealing her money.
The 35-year-old woman told police the man hit her in the face and stomach while she walked along West First Avenue about 9:30 a.m. He then took a $20 bill from her and fled in a cab.
Dolphine Sanders, 23, was charged with first-degree robbery following the attack.
Sanders was arrested near Sprague and Helena after the cabdriver identified him as the passenger he picked up near the attack.
The victim identified the man as her attacker, police said. Sanders also was wanted on two warrants, including one for escape.
When Sanders was booked into the Spokane County Jail, police found drug paraphernalia in his pockets, said police spokesman Dick Cottam. Sanders also faces additional drug charges.
