Fresno Edges Saint Mary’s

Kendric Brooks hit a short jump shot with 5 seconds left in the game to give Fresno State a 75-74 non-conference men’s basketball victory over Saint Mary’s Wednesday night.

Brooks, who led all scorers with 30 points, made one of two free throws with 25 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bulldogs (6-4) a 73-72 lead.

Kamran Sufi gave the Gaels (4-3) the lead again, making a short jumper before Brooks hit the game-winner.

Gerrit Terdenge had 11 points for Fresno State, all in the first half, and Rahsaan Smith added 10.

New Orleans 94, San Fran. 84 (OT)

At New Orleans, guard Tyrone Garris matched career highs of 31 points and six steals to lead New Orleans to an overtime victory against the Dons in the second game of the UNO Christmas Classic.

The Privateers (3-3) will play Virginia Commonwealth, a 66-48 winner against Jackson State. San Francisco fell to 5-4.

Zerrick Campbell, who finished with 17 points for San Francisco, hit a layup with 4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.
