Man Charged With Rape, Kidnap

A Spokane man has been charged with kidnapping and rape for allegedly attacking a 14-year-old girl near here.

Bonner County sheriff’s deputies arrested Patrick R. Clary, 47, on Sunday. Bail is set at $500,000.

Lt. Doug Harris said the victim and Clary were acquaintances.

Clary was at the girl’s home near Old Town, Idaho, when he asked the girl to drive him home because he was too intoxicated, Harris said.

Clary had the girl drive to a secluded logging road that dead-ended near Blanchard. The girl told police that Clary first had her drink alcohol and then tried to get her to take drugs.

She refused and Clary threatened her with a knife, Harris said. The girl told authorities that Clary then raped her.

Bonner County deputies arrested Clary as he was arriving to pick up his abandoned vehicle, Harris said.

Clary has denied raping the girl, Harris said.
