Mason Dismisses Speculations

Compiled From Wire Services

Kansas football coach Glen Mason dismissed all speculation regarding his abrupt decision to reject the Georgia job and said he just wanted to stay with the Jayhawks.

“The reason why I changed my mind is that as I got closer to coaching my last game for the University of Kansas, I realized I wanted to be the Kansas coach,” Mason said at a news conference.

Mason dismissed talk that his recent divorce or other family problems were a factor. He also said reports that Georgia athletic director Vince Dooley was demanding too much control over the program were wrong.
