With star forward Marcus Camby out for almost the entire game with a bruised knee, No. 1 Massachusetts spread its scoring around Friday night in posting a 78-63 victory over Southern Cal in the championship bracket of the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu.
Camby bruised his knee 2:13 into the game in a collision with teammate Dana Dingle.
Massachusetts (9-0) never trailed, getting off to a 10-4 lead on 3-pointers by Carmielo Travieso and Edgar Padilla. The Trojans (7-3) got within one point, 17-16, but UMass pulled out to a 32-23 lead at the half.
The Minutemen will play No. 13 Syracuse in today’s title game.
The Orangemen (11-0) were 92-66 winners over Rhode Island (6-3).

Also in Honolulu, Jerry Gee made a free throw with 2 seconds left in overtime to give the Illini (10-1) a win over the Rainbows (3-4) in the consolation round of the Rainbow Classic.
After Hawaii’s Sam Smith hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 26 seconds left, Gee was fouled by Smith as he took a shot from the baseline.

In New York, Tony Delk was 6-for-7 from 3-point range and scored 29 points to lead the Wildcats (9-1) over the Gaels (6-2) in the championship game of the ECAC Holiday Festival.

In Portland, Ore., Erick Dampier had 25 points and 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs (7-1) beat the Beavers (2-5) in the Ford Far West Classic.
