Legislator Wants To Extend Donation Write-Off

From Staff Reports

Rep. Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls, says anyone who donates technological equipment to Idaho’s colleges and universities should get a state tax writeoff.

Kellogg introduced legislation Tuesday to extend the existing tax break, which now covers such donations to elementary and secondary schools.

Kellogg said she expects the legislation, if passed, to encourage companies to donate “old but not obsolete” equipment such as computers.

The same bill passed the House last year, but didn’t make it to a Senate vote before the session ended.
