Hot Jazz Uplifting For Sloan
Jerry Sloan, who led the Utah Jazz to a franchise-record 14-1 record during January, was selected Wednesday as the NBA’s Coach of the Month.
Through the end of the month, the Jazz was on a franchise-record 13-game winning streak. The team also had a 15-game franchise-record road winning streak.
Sloan moved past Larry Costello and into 20th place on the career coaching victories list with a 431-302 record.
Tisdale sidelined
Wayman Tisdale of the Phoenix Suns separated rib cartilage in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Tisdale, a forward-center acquired as a free agent in the offseason, made his second straight start but played only nine minutes, with six points and one rebound, against Vlade Divac, before the injury.
The 10th-year player was apparently hurt while battling for a rebound with Divac.
