No Davis Cup Deja Vu
Tom Gullikson keeps hearing the United States should have no trouble against France this weekend in the opening round of the Davis Cup.
Gullikson, the U.S. Davis Cup captain, wants no part of it. He knows what happened in 1991, when the French beat the Americans in the Davis Cup final.
This year’s U.S. teams consists of Jim Courier and Todd Martin and the doubles pair of Jared Palmer and Richey Reneberg.
Yannick Noah, captain of the French team that won the 1991 Davis Cup, is in charge of the squad including Guy Forget, Oliver Delaitre and Arnaud Boetsch and Cedric Pioline.
