Halfcourt Shot Boosts Nampa To State Tourney
A halfcourt shot by Tonna Woolery gave Nampa a halftime lead it wouldn’t relinquish in a 56-51 victory over Lewiston in an A-1 girls basketball playoff game Saturday afternoon at Cascade.
The victory puts Nampa (17-7 overall) into the state tournament, which begins Thursday at Albertson College in Caldwell. Lewiston ends the season at 18-6.
Woolery’s bomb put Nampa ahead 31-27 at halftime.
Liz Benear led Nampa with 18 points and Woolery added 17. Sarah McEachern led Lewiston with 18 points, while teammates Laura Bloom and Andrea Gomez added 12 and 10, respectively.
