Date Set For Edson’s Parole

From Staff And Wire Reports

The state Commission on Pardons and Parole has set a January release date for convicted murderer Linda Edson.

The commission agreed to release 30-year-old Boise woman on Tuesday after receiving recommendations that she be paroled.

Edson will have served over 11 years by the time of her release for firstdegree murder. She was convicted of shooting Cindy Stewart in the head during a 1984 argument over a man.

She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years, but parole board officials said she had a good record while in prison, was involved in many rehabilitative programs including work in correctional industries and had spoken about prison and her experiences as part of the youth-at-risk program.

Among the conditions of her parole will be intensive supervision, community service that will include further lectures to young people about prison and vocational rehabilitation.
