M’S Farm Team To N.C.

The Seattle Mariners reached an agreement with the Port City Professional Baseball Club, signing the Southern League club to a player development contract with the Mariners’ double-A club.

The Mariners’ four-year Southern League affiliation with Jacksonville, Fl. expired after the 1994 season.

Dave Myers will manage the club, located in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will be assisted by pitching coach Ron Romanick and trainer Pul Harker.

Myers, 35 has posted a 303-231 record during his six seasons as a manager in the Mariners’ farm system. Last year, he guided the Riverside Pilots to an 87-49 record and first-place finishes in both halves of the southern division of the California League.
