Obituaries

Harold Bryant Spokane

Memorial service for Harold V. Bryant, 80, is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bryant, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, died Saturday. Born in Spokane, he was previously active in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He was a faith missionary at Wellpinit, Wash., between 1964-1970.

Mr. Bryant attended Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Alice Bryant.

Violet Moore Priest River, Idaho

Service for Violet Gladys Moore, 81, is planned for 11 a.m. today at ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Priest River.

Mrs. Moore, who died Monday, was born in Merrill, Wis., and moved to Priest River in 1944.

She married Charles “Spike” Wesley Moore in 1945. He died in 1991.

Mrs. Moore worked as a waitress for a short time and also worked for the Priest River Hospital in the mid 1940s.

Survivors include five daughters, Deloris Jean Hammeren of Newport, Wash., Marion Joyce Bonser of Lander, Wyo., Rae Ellen Lee of Rhemini, Mont., Laurel Frieda Kock of Priest River and Patsy Lee Moore of Laclede, Idaho; a sister, Irene Gleason of Priest River; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Josephine `Joni’ Casey Spokane

Funeral Mass for Josephine “Joni” Casey, 79, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Pioneer Gardens Cemetery in Moses Lake. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Casey, who died Tuesday, was born and raised in Havre, Mont.

In 1934 she married Lin Casey, and in 1941 they moved to Ellensburg.

The Caseys moved to Moses Lake in 1952 and founded Casey Music in Moses Lake and Wenatchee that same year. They operated the music stores until she retired in 1982 and moved to Spokane.

Mr. Casey died in 1979.

Mrs. Casey was active in the Ladies of the Elks in Moses Lake and the Altar Society at Mary Queen Parish in Spokane.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Casey of Seattle and Lin Casey Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Mickey DeChenne and Patti Schauer, both of Spokane; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.

Margaret Gravley Spokane

Vigil service for Margaret Gravley, 83, is planned for 6 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church followed by inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Gravley, a homemaker, died Monday. Born in Napolean, N.D., she moved to Spokane in 1944.

Her husband, Curtis Gravley, died in 1967.

Survivors include two sons, Edward Gravley of El Paso, Texas, and John Gravley of Kellogg; three daughters, Sylvia Ross of Tiveron, Calif., and Vergetta Spain and Michel Gravley, both of Pendleton, Ore.; three sisters, Kathryn Adams and Johanna Evans, both of Spokane, and Veronica Oglesby of Evansville, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.

Doris Nelson Spokane

Cremation is planned for Doris M. Nelson, 98, with burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson, who died Tuesday, was born in Yorkshire, England, and moved to Spokane in 1920.

She was a World War I war bride and was a member of the World War I Widows. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star’s Electra Chapter.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilou DeNooy of Priest Lake, Idaho; two sons, Walter Nelson of Pasadena, Calif., and Robert Nelson of San Francisco; a brother, Ronald Morris of England; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Elizabeth Jennings Spokane

Funeral Mass for Elizabeth H. Jennings, 69, will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church followed by inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jennings, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, died Tuesday. Born in Wallace, she moved to Spokane 40 years ago.

She worked for the Bonneville Power Administration in Spokane for 10 years and also worked for the National Parks Service. She also worked for several other government agencies and for insurance companies.

Mrs. Jennings was a member of St. Paschal’s Catholic Church, the Marine Corps League and the BPA Tea and Lunch Club.

Her first husband, Warren Hart, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Jennings; three sons, Daniel Hart of Denver, Patrick Hart of Pasco and Ed Jennings of Bothell, Wash.; a daughter, Patti Verdal of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; a brother, Charles Rohrer of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Anna Louise Thomas of Oakridge, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Gladys Bailey Veradale

Memorial service for Gladys H. Bailey, 95, is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Spokane Valley Methodist Church. Private burial will be held. Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bailey died Monday. She was born in Willow Springs, Mo., and was raised in Russellville, Ky.

She moved to Memphis, Tenn., in 1933 and moved to Veradale many years ago to live with her daughter.

Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Spokane Valley Methodist Church.

She married Earle L. Bailey in 1968. He died in 1972.

Survivors include a daughter, Lucille Hurlbut of Veradale; four granddaughters, four greatgrandchildren and one great-greatgrandson.

John Musick Spokane

No service is planned for John A. Musick, 79, at his request. Private inurnment will be at the Elma (Wash.) Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Musick, who died Friday, was born in Elma. In 1970 he moved to Spokane, where he was a dairy farmer.

He also worked as a cat-skinner in the Columbia Basin for many years.

There are no immediate family members as survivors.

Beryl Wilson Sandpoint

Graveside service and burial for Beryl Esther Wilson, 81, was Monday at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint. Bonners Ferry (Idaho) Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wilson, who died Friday, was born in Gildford, Mont. She attended school in Montana and worked in a kitchen at Farragut Naval Station in Bayview, Idaho.

Mrs. Wilson then moved to several towns in Idaho and Montana.

She married Samuel C. Wilson in 1949, and they made their home in Seeley Lake, Mont., and Sandpoint.

In 1970 the Wilsons moved permanently to Sandpoint, where she worked as a housekeeper for many years until she retired.

She was a member of the Christian Science Church and the Mother Church in Boston.

Mr. Wilson preceded her in death.

Survivors include four daughters, Verda Bullock of Polson, Mont., Mary Hellyer of Bigfork, Mont., Doris Trinko of Tucson, Ariz., and Beverly Huggins of Naples, Idaho; a son, Sheldon Wilson of Sandpoint; a sister, Verda Zinter of Grants Pass, Ore.; three brothers, Richard Welter of Lewiston, and Donald Welter and Robert Welter, both of Sandpoint; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Carol Gilmore Spokane

Private service for Carol F. Gilmore, 77, will be held at her request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gilmore died Monday. Born in Govan, Wash., she moved to Spokane 74 years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene and Karen; nine grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

E.R. `Ray’ Everheart Harrington, Wash.

Private family burial for E.R. “Ray” Everheart, 74, was Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Harrington. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Everheart, who died Sunday, was born in Bells, Texas. He moved to the Northwest while serving in the Air Force at Geiger Field during World War II.

He married Norma Schultz in 1945, and they began farming in 1947. He retired in 1978 due to health reasons, and they moved to Harrington.

Mr. Everheart was the originator of the Harrington Golf and Country Club and served as chairman of the building committee when the Community Congregational Church in Harrington was built.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Norma Everheart; two daughters, Linda Nye and Marcia Burroughs, both of Spokane; a sister, Theresa Hale of Lamesa, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Harrington Golf and Country Club Pump Fund, the Community Congregational Church, or the charity of choice.

Ernie Jones Spokane

Cremation will be held for Ernie Jones, 76, followed by burial at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland at a later date.

Mr. Jones, a former miner, died Jan. 29. Born in Minnesota, he moved to Spokane 30 years ago.

He served in the Army during World War II on Okinawa and Iwo Jima.

Mr. Jones’ survivors include four brothers and four sisters.

Kenneth Hefling Spokane

No service is planned for Kenneth Hefling, 82, at his request.

Mr. Hefling died Jan. 12. Born in Cheney, he lived his entire life in the Spokane area.

He worked for the Great Northern Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, May Hefling; two sisters, Hazel Hodges of Colorado and Pearl Tilberg of Bremerton; and many nieces and nephews.

Roy Wilson Spokane

Memorial service for Roy F. Wilson, 74, is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Private burial will be at the Elk Cemetery of District No. 4. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilson, a Navy veteran, died Tuesday. Born in Eastport, Idaho, he graduated from Newport High School in 1938.

He moved to Spokane 49 years ago and worked in construction. He also worked for Kaiser Aluminum at Trentwood as an electrician, retiring in 1985.

Mr. Wilson was past president and a life member of the Spokane Rifle Club and was a life member of the Washington State Rifle and Pistol Association.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 73. He was also a member of United Steel Workers Union Local No. 338 and the San Jaun 21 Association.

Mr. Wilson was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Sailing Club, the Spokane Brewers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5924 of Elk.

He married Eleanor Brady in 1946.

Survivors include his wife of more than 49 years; two sons, Tom Wilson of Spokane and Gregory Wilson of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Dayle Wright of Chelsea, Mich.; a brother, Floyd Tarbert of Clarkston, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Frances Wollan Spokane

No service is planned for Frances C. Wollan, 86, at her request.

Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and arrangements.

Ms. Wollan, a homemaker, died last Thursday. She was born in Lewiston and moved to Spokane in 1962.

Survivors include a longtime friend, Joyce Kromm of Spokane; and two nephews.
