Taco Bell Lightens Up

Associated Press

Taco Bell is adding lighter versions of its most popular food to the menu in hopes of attracting people scared off by the fat and calories in its regular fare of tacos, burritos and other Mexican dishes.

The California-based Taco Bell expects its new Border Lights line will generate $5 billion in yearly sales by the decade’s end, and drive other fast-food providers to offer reduced fat versions of their best-selling food.

The new line generally contains at least 50 percent less fat and 20 percent fewer calories than the originals, which will remain on the menu.
