Foursome Leads At Buick

Dan Pohl and Joel Edwards finished at 7-under-par 65 with 18th-hole eagles, joining Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco atop the leader board after the first round of the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines.

Payne Stewart, David Ogrin, Brad Faxon, Brandel Chamblee and Bob Burns were one stroke back at 66.

Defending champion Craig Stadler tied five others at 5-under 67.

Kirk Triplett of Pullman was at 69.
