Gonzaga Women Beat Pepperdine

Sarah Christensen’s free throw with 1:54 to play was the difference Thursday night as the Gonzaga University women slipped past Pepperdine 63-62 at Martin Center.

The Bulldogs (3-6 WCC, 8-12 overall) failed to score after Christensen’s foul shot and nearly squandered a 63-60 lead. From there, Christensen and teammate Chelsea Herman each missed the first of one-and-one situations.

Still, free throws proved to be the difference for Gonzaga. The Bulldogs shot 18 of 23 from the line, while the Waves (3-6, 9-11) were 9 of 11.

Both teams were fairly even from the field. Gonzaga made 20 of 57 shots, while Pepperdine was 24 for 67.

Gonzaga guard Ivy Safranski led all scorers with 26 points.
