Adair must have seen a different concert

I don’t know what concert Don Adair went to when he saw the Spokane Symphony with Banu Gibson and her New Orleans Hot Jazz. However, I thought she was terrific. Her ensemble was wonderful. The Spokane Symphony Orchestra backed them up beautifully. Altogether it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. Evelyn Corsmo Spokane

Heavy metal bands give wrong message

Do you parents want your kids to learn how to be disrespectful? How about violent? How about influenced to try drugs? Or maybe, be told that sex is cool - no matter what - no rules? But then they aren’t told of the very likely consequences, either.

Who would foist these ideas on them, you say? The answer is Megadeth and any number of heavy metal rock bands. And it so happens that Megadeth is sweeping into town on Feb. 17.

Do our very impressionable youth need to have this band prey on their minds? Are we parents going to allow that to happen, or will you and other loving parents take a stand - and keep our kids’ sanity intact by just saying “no.”

Example of their mu-sick: “Angry Again,” describes being physically torn to pieces.

Wonderful message, right? Go look up the words to their many disgusting songs on albums, etc., and you’ll be convinced that it’s not for your young person.

We in Spokane have read and heard too much, lately, of murder, rape, and other crimes that our youth are committing. Do we really need to add more fuel to the fire? Burn those Megadeth tickets, or better yet, don’t buy any.

Do something good for your children. Show them how much you care. Take them out some place that night. Give them some of your time. Maybe, that’s really all they really want.

(Twila Paris is performing at the Spokane Opera House on March 2. Now that’s a concert worth every penny, and more.) Denny Glaim Spokane
