Chiefs Win On Leeb Goal
Greg Leeb scored Spokane’s last two goals, including the winner 6:25 into overtime, as the Chiefs finally overcame the Tacoma Rockets 5-4 Friday night.
The Chiefs lost their first five Western Hockey League meetings with the Rockets this season, four of them by one goal. Spokane is 12-18 in one-goal games, 5-5-1 in overtimes.
The Chiefs dominated the overtime, launching 10 shots at Tacoma goalie Todd MacDonald before Leeb converted a Trent Whitfield pass in the goal mouth for his 17th goal. Tacoma didn’t get off a shot in the extra period.
Jeremy Stasiuk also scored twice for Spokane, running his goal total to 19, and Sean Gillam got his 12th.
Spokane entertains Lethbridge tonight at 7 in the Spokane Coliseum.
