Hawks Name Assistant

New Seattle Seahawks coach Dennis Erickson has hired Mike Murphy, a veteran NFL assistant, to take over as linebackers coach.

Murphy has nine years of NFL coaching experience, working with the Detroit Lions from 1985-89 and with the Phoenix Cardinals from 1990-93.

Murphy, a former Idaho State defensive coordinator, comes to the Seahawks from the Carolina Panthers, where he had worked since May 1994.
