Telect Acquires Security Systems Firm
Telect Inc., a Spokane Valley maker of telecommunications equipment, recently acquired a security systems manufacturing company.
Telect’s security electronics business unit, Unitek Control Products, bought Star Detention Electronics, of Vancouver, Wash., for an undisclosed amount.
Formerly a division of G.B. Manchester Corp., Star Detention Electronics has been in the specialty electronics business for five years.
Bill Williams, Telect’s chairman and chief executive officer, said uniting the two companies will broaden Telect’s product offering.
Star Detention Electronics pioneered a detention electronics touch screen control system in 1989.
The combination of technology will make Telect more competitive in the security control industry, Williams said.
Star will continue operations with its five employees in Vancouver.
