Usoc Picks Coach

Skip Bertman, coach at Louisiana State, was approved by the U.S. Olympic Committee as head coach for the United States baseball team for the next two years, including the Olympic Games.

Bertman will be assisted by Ron Polk of Mississippi State, Ray Tanner of North Carolina State and Jerry Weinstein of Sacramento (Calif.) City College.

The national team will play 35 games in 14 minor-league parks throughout the southeastern United States on its 1995 summer tour.

The team also will tour in the summer of 1996, prior to the Olympic Games.
