Kxly’s Nameck Named State’s Top Sportscaster

From Staff Reports

KXLY sports director Bud Nameck has been selected Sportscaster of the Year for 1994 in the state of Washington by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

“It’s nice to know that you’ve earned the respect of your peers,” said Nameck, who was selected in a vote of sportscasters and sportswriters in the state.

For 12 years, Nameck has reported and produced sports stories for KXLY-TV 4 and KXLY-AM 920 radio. He anchors the station’s 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts and produces and hosts a pregame “road show” on radio before Washington State University football games, besides other special projects.

He’s also in his second season as radio play-by-play broadcaster for WSU basketball.

The national awards ceremony will be in North Carolina, but the station said Nameck “will likely have too many projects here to make the trip.”
