5 Killed, 4 Injured In Row House Blaze

Compiled From Wire Services

A wind-driven fire swept through a row house early Sunday, killing four children and an elderly woman who was found cradling one of them.

Four others, including a man who ran from the house with his shirt ablaze, were being treated at a hospital.

A young woman and a 6-yearold boy escaped unharmed.

Firefighters’ uniforms were coated with ice in the freezing weather. Cause of the 8:30 a.m. fire is under investigation.
