When You Fall In Love, It’s Very Seldom Forever

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Things are not looking good for Kelsey Grammer. The man who plays a radio psychiatrist may need one himself soon.

Accused of pursuing a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old New Jersey girl two years ago, Grammer is the subject of a grand jury investigation. In the course of said investigation, however, the actor’s attorneys are trying to block media coverage of the court’s proceedings.

“It is an apparent attempt by a celebrity to escape normal public scrutiny,” said Richard Hughes, editor of the East Brunswick, N.J., Home News.

The allegation is that Grammer had sex with the girl in a Warren Township, N.J., hotel. Initially mum on the subject, the girl, reports her lawyer, is now prepared to reveal all.

Loose talk

“All My Children” star Ruth Warrick, 78, on signing a new two-year contract with the show: “I’d love to be still doing it at 90. I don’t believe in retirement, not when you’re doing what you love.”

It’s Saturday, and he’s still in a fever

John Travolta turns 41 today.

All ages, to our best knowledge, are correct as listed

Normally, we highlight just one celebrity’s birth date daily. But when you read the following names, you’ll understand why we’re making an exception today: Helen Gurley Brown, 73; Dennis DeYoung, 48; Matt Dillon, 31; George Kennedy, 68; Toni Morrison, 64; Manny Mota, 57; Juice Newton, 43; Yoko Ono, 62; Jack Palance, 75; Molly Ringwald, 27; Cybill Shepherd, 45; and Vanna White, 38.

They listened until they heard the executioner’s song

Novelist Norman Mailer did a book reading in New York recently. Sort of. According to Spy magazine, he decided just to stand there. “I can only be here for 50 minutes,” Mailer said. “I will answer questions.” But that lasted only a short while. “Why don’t I read something and sign some stuff?” Mailer finally asked. “That should kill the clock.”

After all, somebody needed to fetch her drinks

New York magazine reports that talk-show host Rolonda Watts took in a Lesbian Night party at a Manhattan club. “Ro says it’s not worth making a fuss about,” her publicist sniffed. “She read it and thought, `So what?’ She would have stayed longer if there had been more cute guys.”

Well, he might have said it, but he didn’t mean it

By the way, in response to “Saturday Night Live” comic Adam Sandler’s claim that he was misquoted about saying how lousy the show’s writing has become, TV Guide is standing by its story.

And what part of no don’t YOU understand?

“I was in a gym in L.A. right after `What’s Love Got to Do With It’ came out,” actor Laurence Fishburne told Details magazine. “This woman comes up to me and says, `I have an idea. I have a fish tank at home. We can go to my house and have sex.’ And I’m thinking to myself, `But that was a rape scene, dear.”’
