Similarities

The three instances of GTE fraud have these similarities:

All three involve phone calls made on GTE systems in rural areas and billed to nearby homes and businesses.

All three occurred between September and November of last year.

None of the three teenagers making the calls is considered a “hacker” or computer wizard.

The Idaho and Wisconsin calls were made to the same phone-sex company, North Star Communication of Clearwater, Fla. The chief investigator in the Indiana case was ill and unable to provide details about that case.
