Seattle Arson Suspect Still Sought

Associated Press

The attorney for Martin Pang, sought for questioning in a warehouse arson that killed four firefighters, says it’s his job to try to persuade the man to turn himself in.

“I think the ball’s in my court,” Seattle attorney John Henry Browne told the Seattle Times.

But Browne said that due to media coverage of the case, Pang is leery about his prospects for a fair trial if he surrenders to police.

Pang, 39, has been sought on a federal fugitive warrant since Feb. 3. He was last seen in Southern California, where he lives, on Feb. 12.

Browne said Pang wants to return to Seattle to prove his innocence but is concerned about publicity the case has generated.

“You should assume we have forcefully told him to come in,” Browne said.
