Teenager Apprehended In High Speed Chase
Spokane police arrested two teenagers who led officers from two agencies on a high-speed chase Monday.
About 2:30 a.m., a police officer spotted a pickup going the wrong way on the Division Street exit ramp from Interstate 90.
When the officer attempted to stop the pickup, the driver accelerated and an eight-minute chase began involving sheriff’s deputies and police.
The pursuit reached speeds of 90 mph and covered 14 miles, police said.
A spike strip was set out on I-90 near the Sullivan Road interchange, where the pickup was stopped.
The driver was 17 years old, and the pickup had been stolen from Ephrata on Sunday, police said.
The teen was booked in the Juvenile Detention Center for attempting to elude and for vehicle theft.
Laura Vone, 19, of Soap Lake, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for vehicle theft.
A 6-week-old puppy also was found in the car. The dog was turned over to Spokanimal Care officials.
