Program On Cancer Will Be Saturday
A public education forum on risk factors and screening for common forms of cancer will be presented at Sacred Heart Medical Center’s Providence Auditorium on Saturday.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
The daylong program, sponsored by the SHMC Cancer and Research Center, the American Cancer Society and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will include a panel discussion of community resources for cancer patients and presentations on detection, current treatment research and the importance of proper nutrition, relaxation and humor in preventing cancer.
A $10 registration fee includes tuition, course materials, lunch and refreshments.

Health lecture for seniors
“The Quacks Are Back,” a free lecture for senior citizens on making well-informed decisions and recognizing false claims about health-related products and services, will be presented Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Cheney Cowles Museum auditorium.
Nick Wood, a registered dietitian and health facilitator at the Health Resource Center at Sacred Heart Medical Center, will present the program.
Wood’s speech is part of the “Journeys: Excursions for the Mind and Body” series sponsored by the museum, Sacred Heart and West One Bank.
The lecture will be preceded by a continental breakfast at 10:30 a.m. and followed by a financial tip for seniors offered by West One Bank.
Self-improvement lecture
PSI Seminars, a motivational and personal development program, will present a free introductory lecture Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ridpath Hotel.
A PSI Basic Seminar will be offered in Spokane April 6.
